Uniform Care Information
The Millard School District made a major investment in the Band Program with the purchase of new uniforms in the 2005-2006 school year. It is each person's responsibility to keep the uniforms in the best shape possible for current and future band members. If a uniform becomes damaged, the student and parent/guardian may be held responsible for damages up to the cost of replacement of the damaged items if they have to be reordered.
If you have damage/problems with the uniform during the year, contact Denise or Karen ASAP. If you have any questions about the care of your uniform or if it needs alterations, please contact the uniform chairperson noted below.

- Professionally dry clean only – Uniforms should be professionally dry cleaned a minimum of 2 times per year. You need to have the uniform dry cleaned before check-in day, in May. The approved dry cleaner that has been given the proper care directions is: Yoo's Cleaners, 144th & Center (west of Shopko) **Please keep your dry cleaning receipts; they must accompany the uniform when it is checked in at the end of the year.**
- After each performance -
- Remove the uniform from the uniform bag so that moisture from perspiration will not cause serious damage.
- Carefully hang the pants with the creases matched so that the legs are not wrinkled.
- Hang the jacket so that the shoulder pads are properly supported and shaped.
- Remove the snap-out jacket collar liner and hand wash or machine wash and air dry.
- Check for mud and stains. Let mud dry and then scrape off the excess mud. Do not attempt to remove stains yourself. Do not let stain set. Immediately take to professional dry cleaner noted above.
- If uniform gets wet
- Hang uniform pieces separately and allow to air dry in well ventilated room at room temperature until completely dry. (This may take 24-72 hours.)
- Take to professional dry cleaner noted above.
- Never hand clean, wet, wash or rinse any uniform part except the snap out jacket collar liner. Never iron, blow dry or tumble dry. Never store a stained or wet uniform in the uniform bag. Never cut off any material from the uniform. If alterations are needed, call person noted below.
- Wearing uniform – Uniforms are to be worn with liners: a black T-shirt (no tank tops) and lightweight shorts or bike shorts. Wear crew-length black socks.
- Transporting uniform – Uniforms are to be transported in the uniform bag. Do not put shoes in the interior bottom of the bag. There is a separate pouch on the back of the bag for shoes. Never carry items in the hat box that might damage the hat, i.e. food or drink that might spill.
- Spring concerts – Just a reminder that students generally wear their uniform 1-2 times in April.
